Editorial and Publication Process
After submission, manuscripts will proceed through the following stages.
Stage 1 – Initial Editorial Validation
The Editorial Team conducts an initial screening to determine whether the manuscript:
- Falls within the aims and scope of JSCE.
- Uses the official JSCE template.
- Contains all required manuscript components.
- Meets basic academic writing and presentation standards.
- Follows the journal's citation and reference requirements.
- Is sufficiently prepared to proceed to peer review.
A manuscript may be returned to the authors for editorial correction before peer review.
Passing the initial editorial validation does not mean that the manuscript has been accepted for publication.
Stage 2 – Payment Process
Manuscripts that successfully pass the Initial Editorial Validation proceed to the payment stage.
The applicable fees are:
Article Processing Fee (APC): IDR 1,000,000
The APC is required after the manuscript passes the Initial Editorial Validation and before it proceeds to peer review.
Authors may also choose the optional:
Fast-Track Review Fee: IDR 1,000,000
The Fast-Track Review fee is an additional fee and is separate from the APC.
Therefore:
- Regular processing: IDR 1,000,000
- APC + Fast-Track Review: IDR 2,000,000
Payment instructions will be provided directly by the Editorial Team through the official OJS discussion or other official journal communication channels.
Important Notice Regarding Payment
Payment of the APC or Fast-Track Review fee does not guarantee acceptance or publication of the manuscript.
All manuscripts remain subject to peer review and editorial evaluation.
The Fast-Track Review option only provides expedited editorial handling and review processing. It does not:
- Guarantee acceptance.
- Guarantee positive reviewer comments.
- Influence reviewer recommendations.
- Influence the final editorial decision.
If a manuscript is ultimately not accepted for publication after peer review and editorial evaluation, the Article Processing Fee will be refunded to the author in accordance with the journal's current policy.
Stage 3 – Peer Review
After the payment process has been verified, the manuscript proceeds to peer review.
The manuscript will be evaluated by independent reviewers based on relevant scientific and academic considerations, including:
- Relevance of the topic
- Scientific contribution
- Methodology
- Quality of analysis
- Clarity of presentation
- Validity of results
- Quality of discussion
- Appropriateness of references
The possible editorial decisions may include:
- Accept Submission
- Revisions Required
- Resubmit for Review
- Decline Submission
Authors are expected to respond carefully to reviewer comments and submit revised manuscripts within the period specified by the Editorial Team.
4. Revision Submission
If revision is requested, authors should not create a new submission.
The revised manuscript must be uploaded through the existing submission record or by replying to the relevant OJS discussion thread, as instructed by the Editorial Team.
When submitting a revision, authors may also be required to provide:
- Revised manuscript
- Response to reviewers
- Explanation of changes made
- Additional supporting documents, where applicable
Authors should clearly address all comments provided by the editors and reviewers.
Stage 4 – Copy Editing
Manuscripts that successfully complete the peer-review and editorial evaluation process proceed to the Copy Editing stage.
During this stage, the journal may review:
- Grammar and language consistency
- Formatting
- Citation consistency
- Reference formatting
- Terminology
- Tables and figures
- Manuscript structure
- Typographical errors
Authors may be contacted to confirm or correct specific parts of the manuscript.
Stage 5 – Production
After copy editing is completed, the manuscript proceeds to production.
This stage may include:
- Final layout preparation
- Galley preparation
- DOI preparation
- Metadata verification
- Final proofreading
- Author confirmation of the final version
Authors should carefully check the proof before publication.
Only minor corrections should normally be made during the production stage.
Stage 6 – Publication
After the final proof has been approved, the article will be scheduled for publication in an issue of the Journal of System and Computer Engineering (JSCE).
The published article will receive its final bibliographic information and DOI according to the journal's publication procedure.
